SAVVY By DB- Luxury Liner & Eyeliner Review

Hey lovlies!
So we all love a bargain right! Who doesn't!
Quite a while ago i came across a brand that is super cheap but incredible quality! Its been out for ages so its not a new product but if you haven't tried it out yet, you defiantly should!

The brand is called SAVVY
and if you have been watching my channel you would have noticed that im a huge buyer/fan of their products!

So im pretty sure that SAVVY is a branch of the Designer Brands makeup label. As on all the SAVVY products they say "SAVVY by DB"
SAVVY as well as DB are known for super cheap yet high quality makeup!
DB has plenty of web sights and information around about it, but ive found it quite hard to find some more info about SAVVY. All i really have managed to find is its distributed by Priceline (sold exclusively at Priceline)  and that its made in the EU (European Union).
Other then that all the info ill be giving you today is based on my own experience with the products.

 THE GOOD STUFF

So i have 2 different SAVVY eyeliners to review for you guys today! They are the same price of (from memory) $4.50 or something like that.
Will start with the physical comparisons then get down to the nitty gritty!

PACKAGING

So a fair few differences here. Firstly the "Luxury Liners" are a solid colour from base to tip, they are also the colour of the eyeliner inside.
My 2 "Luxury Liners" are in
Glitzy Gold & Illuminating Indigo

The "Luxury Liners" are actually a larger size then the normal Liners. You get 1.2g with the "Luxury Liner" as apposed to 1.1g with the standard Liners.

The Standard Eyeliner I have is in Smoke
Its in a silver tube with the colour of the product on the tip of the pencil only. The text is in Black where on the "Luxury Liners" the text is Silver.

COLOUR PAY OFF & TEXTURE

STANDARD LINER
Alrighty! Both liners show amazing colour pay off. I do feel that the standard Liner required slightly more pressure then the "Luxury Liners" which, considering its being applied near your eyes isnt the best. The standard eyeliner has more of a intense matte finish.

SMOKE- The colour is solid no shimmers or glitters. The texture is soft, but not creamy its what i would call a Khole eyeliner. The more you apply the darker the colour will become.

LUXURY LINERS
I dont have the full range so this is just based on the liners i have here, but it seems to me that the Luxury Liners" have more of a metallic finish and a softer creamier constancy.
Considering the Luxury Liners" have a creamier softer constancy the pay off is amazing and you do get a fantastic intense colour without having to go over the same area again and again. However in my experience creamy products can tend to run or move around a bit especially if its a warm day. To solve this i simple add a eyeshadow of the same colour over the top to set the cream eyeliner, this only really happened on warmer days.
The Luxury Liners" can also be blended out and smudged alot easier then the Standard Eyeliner can. That is just due to their constancy, but it makes them a breeze to work with.

GLITZY GOLD- is metallic to the max! It also has very small glitter/shimmer particals to it which give it a beautiful eyecatching effect.

ILLUMINATING INDIGO- So i must admit ive had this bad boy for a while and lost the lid AGES ago, so it has dried up slightly. This colour is still metallic not as much as the gold. but as you can see it still has shimmering glittering partials within it aswell. Seeming ( as i mentioned before) i dont have all the liners, im not sure if they all have this shimmering metallic quality to them, but these too certainly do!

So i will defiantly continue to by the Luxury Liners over the standard. I just like the colour pay off and the constancy more! But why dont you give them ago yourself and see which one is your favorite!

SAVVY also have a full range of makeup and they are such great quality so try it out next time your in Priceline!!!

Whats in your Beauty Products??

Hey Lovlies!
So by the title you are probably thinking
"What the...?"

Well dont worry this post will explain everything you need to know!

But first ill explain how this all started....

So it was just another boring say and i was just cruising around on YouTube (hours can just fly by on YouTube hahaha) any way, i came across this video....

Honestly its a must watch! Truly watch it NOW before you read the rest of this post!

I KNOW RIGHT! OMG
After watching that i was truly blown away, i started reading all my labels on every product i own and its so scary! Honestly i dont like to say this, but no wonder so many people are getting sick these days! And just like they said in this video, it may be only small doses, but you might be using 15 different products with that chemical in it!

Ive had alot of experience though my hairdressing career with how chemical can affect your skin. Not only myself, but with my clients.  Out of the 3 people that i know that have unfortunately passed away from cancer, 2 of them were hairdressers! Im not saying that was the cause but its strange odds!
Many clients that i met that were suffering hair loss, 90% of them were on medication or had a poor diet! Everything we DO AND EAT comes though our body eventually! Whether its from down below, or though your skin or hair! Everything seeps though our pores! So if what goes in must come out, then what goes on our skin will go into our body aswell!

So its a scary though thinking about what we put on our skin everyday!
I counted what i used to use on a daily basis!

Cleanser
Toner
Moisturizer
Deodorant
Perfume
Sunblock
Lip Balm
Toothpaste
Mouthwash
Handwash
Dishwashing Liquid

And thats not on days that i wash my hair or wear makeup!

All this scary and startling evidence ive found has made me radically change my beauty regime! Of course i still use and love my makeup, but im trying to cut back on everything else.
Not all my products are 100% natural products, nor do i think ill every be able to 100%. But everything helps, especially when your dealing with your health and body!

So for those of you that watch my YouTube channel this is the main reason that made me start my SKINSATIONAL videos!
Making cheap yet effective beauty products at home, that are chemical free, and organic as i can make them! In my opinion if you cant read the label or if you dont know what a ingredient means, its NOT GOOD FOR YOU!

Even Lush which says its "Natural" has parables in their products!

WORDS OF WARNING

Just to make things more confusing.
Be very wary of the use of words that companies use to entice you to buy their products. Such as "Natural" "herbal" "Organic"
In the beauty industry there is a very loose standard on what they consider "Natural" etc.

EXAMPLE
A product can be called "Natural" if, the tiniest partial of the ingredients can some how be traced back to nature! So it could have 1/4 of a mls of, i dont know grass or something, and the rest is just chemical crap!
In my opinion a product is only "Natural" if you can read and understand all the ingredients!

CHEMICALS TO WATCH OUT FOR

So ill admit, i just did a copy and paste job on this, saves some time!

PHTHALATES / FRAGRANCE – Phthalates are estrogen-imitators that inflict destruction on the endocrine system in the human body and cause unwelcomed hormonal effects. “Fragrance” is unregulated and indicates the presence of up to four thousand different ingredients, many of which can be toxic or carcinogenic. In fact, clinical tests prove fragrances can affect the central nervous system, causing depression, hyperactivity and irritability.
FORMALDEHYDE – is used as a preservative and has been linked to cancer, reproductive problems and asthma.
PROPYLENE GLYCOL – It’s linked to liver abnormalities and kidney damage, and is also a skin and eye irritant.
Petroleum – is a common ingredient in beauty products. Petroleum derivatives have been linked to cancer, developmental and reproductive damage, immune system toxicity, endocrine disruption and neurotoxicity.
Hydroquinone – on some evidence in rodent studies that it may cause cancer, the FDA has proposed a ban on its use in over-the-counter products
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate – This is a very effective surfactant, but when mixed with other chemicals found in toiletries it can form carcinogenic (cancer-causing) compounds. This can also cause skin rashes and eye irritation.
COLORANTS – It is related to cancer, neurotoxicity, endocrine disruption and developmental and reproductive toxicity.
LEAD – In 1978, this was banned due to the dangers it causes to the body. It can affect almost every organ and system in the body. It can cause anemia, an increase in blood pressure and it can damage the brain and kidneys.
MINERAL OIL- It has been linked to a variety of things, from clogged pores to cancer. It does not allow the skin to breathe.
MERCURY- has antibacterial properties that can help prevent eye infections. But it can be toxic, so according to the FDA, it can only be used in trace amounts in certain eye products, including mascaras and eyeliners, when no other preservative can be used.

and this is only 10! There are over 500 products that beauty companies use regularly!

WHAT CAN I DO!

So after all that is said, Please dont think im trying to scare you! I just didnt know anything about this untill recently and i wanted to share it with you all so you can be better informed about your choices.

GALAXY EYES

Hey my Lovlies!
So this trend has be HOT HOT HOT this year! In pants, tops, shoes, bags! But Why not EYES!?!

So i decided to fill the gap! I searched and searched for a galaxy eye (not face) makeup tutorial and didnt find a thing! So ive done the hard work for you all and created this simple yet very effective and eye catching look!

The great thing about this look is how creative you can be with it! You can really go crazy with different colours and make it completely your own!
1 thing i do recommend it sticking with a similar colour pallet like cool or warm.
I stuck with cool colours, but to add some contrast i added 1 warm tone colour to really make the cooler colours stand out and appear more realistic!

If you guys want to see how this is done check out this video!

ADORN Makeup Brush review

Hey lovelies!
So you all know im always on the look out for new products!
But i feel i should give you all so background information about the reasons that brought me to my latest purchase.
Ive always loved watching documentary, its not until a friend of mine gave me a copy of a documentary called "Earthlings" for me to watch, that i was unsure.
My friend is a Vegan and is very open about sharing her views on the issue or animals and how humans use them.
So i was skeptical as i started to watch this doco. I though it would be very 1 sided and not give you all the facts. But this couldnt be further from the truth.
Im not going to go into detail, if you have seen this doco you know what its like. Basically i was bawling my eyes out within the first 5mins!

So after the life changing experience (and yes i do honestly feel that its changed my life- from food, fashion, makeup and BRUSHES)
I though there is NO WAY im going to buy fur brushes. SO i went on the look out for high quality synthetic, 100% cruelty free & Australian made/own brushes!

And that is what ive found!

INDRODUCTIN MY NEW ADORN BRUSHES

About ADORN

ADORN was created and is owned by a amazing Aussie woman called Briony.
ADORN is actually a Mineral Cosmetics company, that specialize in high quality 100% toxic free cosmetics, made from pure natural and organic ingredients.
They are also 100% cruelty free, Vegan & PETA registered.
Check out this link for more info on the ingredients in their products.
ADORN sell pretty much everything. From primes, to lipsticks, brushes to mascaras, skincare to VEGAN False Lashes.

Why did I choose ADORN?

Now i know that there are many brands that are Aussie owned and cruelty free, but these brushes really appealed to me! I just love the sophisticated look to them, they shape and the brushes looked amazing! And because it is a Aussie company i really wanted to support them. But now that i have these amazing brushes in my hands i can tell you they are incredible and i highly recommend them to everyone- Makeup Artist to Makeup Enthusiast!

THE GOOD STUFF

So i bough my brushes directly from the ADORN website.  It was scary buying them at first because i knew nothing of the quality or what they would be like.
The brush set i purchased is the 7 Piece Essential Vegan Brush Set.

The set is the most expencive set that i have purchased. It retails for $75. So when they finally arrived i was thrilled to see that the quality and craftsmanship did live up the my expectation.
And i HIGHLY recommend these, and now that i have the i realize $75 isnt much to pay for such great quality! They also sell Kabuki and foundation brushes aswell as many more!
I will continue to purchase my brushes from them and also im keep to give their makeup a go!
Their online service and delivery was amazing!

THE BRUSHES

So as i mention i got the 7 Piece Essential Vegan Brush Set.
This obviously comes with 7 Brushes in a easily transportable brush case. This pack i must admit is slightly smaller then i though it would be, BUT after days and days of trying them out, in my opinion it doesn't make a scrap of difference!
The great thing about the size is, these brushes are so easily transported! great if you traveling or if you going out on the town and dont want to take a massive powder brush with you!
The texture is incredible! SUPER SUPER soft like velvet on your skin! honestly i wish i could have a pillow made out of the same stuff~ OH they are so nice to use!
And even better since ive had then (and used them everyday) there has been 0 shedding.
The bushes feature a black round end handle, with a stainless-steel/chrome base. The bristles are white with a Chocolate brown accent.

In the 7 piece set you get

1- Large Brush - Use for Blush/Bronzer application or Perfect Finish Matte Setting Powder.
Super Super soft. The bristles are dense but fluffy at the same time. Perfect to pick up a good ammount of powder, but soft enough to leave a air-brushed velvety finish on you skin!

2- Medium Brush - Great for contouring under cheek bones with bronzer.
Again texture is unbelievable. The bristles are slightly denser and the brush is slightly shorter, then the Large Brush but still makes for effortless blending.

3- Lash wand - Unclump your lashes or brush for brow perfection.
Very hand to have- Bristles are super soft and not scratchy at all!
Photo taken when the brush was still in its protective clear wrap.

4- Small Flat Brush - Use to apply concealer, lipstick or eyeshadow.
again texture amazing. Firmer bush with a small amount of pliability on the end of the brush fantastic for lips and blending out concealer.

5- Large Flat Brush - Use for eye shadows by pressing onto the lid.
Again dense but soft- Its great to get a intense amount of shadow on the lid but also great for softening and blending out the shadows.

6- Dome/round brush - Used for eye socket contouring and blending.
my FAVOURITE brush! this baby in....im speechless i just love it!
its rounded edge makes it the perfect brush for contouring you eye. Getting right into the crease and blending out colours into nothingness- Everyone should own this brush!

7- Angle Liner Brush - Great for precision eyeliner application and brow defining.
Super thin but dense and strong. Create the most flawless cat liner ever!

THE CASE

So also the brushes come in a case that is great for transporting. The case fits all the brushes easily but snuggly- with out giving the brushes room to fall out. It has 2 main pouches 1 i fit my Large & medium brush and the dome brush, the other pouch fits all the other brushes.

The case also has a flap- preventing any dirt or dust from reaching your brushes, and keeping the bristly es in pristine condition.

the side of the case also has a little pouch with a zip to store any makeup or what ever

and all fits together with a button to secure it all in place!

Lots of love
